  1. ASSESS: Frequently assess the safety of the workplace, looking for potential hazards, violations, and more.
  2. PLAN: Once the facility has been assessed, the findings of the assessment must be analyzed to determine how to eliminate or mitigate them. Control measures need to be identified for each finding. 
  3. IMPLEMENT: After the controls are determined, they are implemented in the workplace. This could range from things such as installing an area guard around a dangerous piece of equipment, to implementing a hearing conservation program.
  4. REPEAT: Workplaces change everyday, whether its equipment or people. Therefore this cycle should always be repeating in order to stay proactive, rather than reactive.
